A giant little girl
The Dominican carnival, which begins before the Christian observation of Lent, is the most popular traditional holiday of the Dominican Republic.
This festival is observed every weekend of the month of February, to commemorate the independence of the nation, achieved on the twenty-seventh of the same month in the year 1844, which moves the citizens to celebrate in the streets and become the inventors of their own entertainment, by creating costumed groups who then parade through the various avenues of traffic in the community, wearing spectacular masks and colorful outfits, to the delight of the whole population. Many wear disguises while others watch; but everyone enjoys this activity with contagious enthusiasm, in which creativity flows as the chief expression of liberty.
