Reseña

We are facing a fictionalized story with edges of tragedy. He mixes
passions and events with the skill with which he brings together, in
the same setting, real and fictional characters that impersonate each
other in a timeless manner.
The work aims to be universal, in that it is comprehensive and kind,
and we can say that it achieves its purpose, at least in this sense.
Told thirty years later by its protagonists, it takes place after the
fall of Trujillo in Esperanza, a town on the Northwest Line whose
changes are notably reflected even in the way its inhabitants walk.
Also, in thinking and feeling, of course. Its ending, as unexpected
as it is refreshing and challenging, justifies the sometimes sinuous
and sometimes smooth passage of this narrative, in which the author
plays between the grace of poetry and the sobriety of the articulated
or measured reports that the story requires.
As a historical novel, it is a reference document, while remaining
entertaining and educational at the same time. A good read, which is
what it’s all about at the end of the day.
